Darrell Boyd Cardon passed away on March 26, 2021, in Hood River, Oregon at the age of 68. He was born on October 22, 1952, in Burley, Idaho. He was the third son of Donna B Van Leuven and Lawrence Boyd Cardon. Their family grew to four boys and three girls. When he was 3 years old the family moved to Grandview, Washington. His family had a dairy farm and grew grapes and asparagus. In 1962 the family moved to a larger farm in Prosser, Washington, and grew sugar beets, asparagus and grapes. Darrell developed a good work ethic by weeding the beets and cutting asparagus for many years.

Darrell attended schools in Whitstran and Prosser, Washington. He struggled all through school and attended high school but did not graduate. He followed his parents to Hood River, Oregon. In Hood River he spent most of the rest of his life working at odd jobs until he suffered a stroke and other physical hardships in 2004.

Darrell married Hazel M. Frost on February 8, 1986 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Seattle, Washington. She passed away on December 18, 2005.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters: Michael (Christy) of Brigham City, Utah; Dennis of Prescott Valley, Arizona; Geneal (Steve) Watt of The Dalles, Oregon; Wayne (Martha) of The Dalles, Oregon; Jolene (Roy) Cason of Coos Bay, Oregon and Melinda (Dwight) Palmer of Spanish Fork, Utah. He has many nephews and nieces who will miss him very much.

The Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other caretakers at the Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, the Hood River Care Center and many other facilities in northern Oregon for their loving care of Darrell.

Funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM., Friday, April 2, 2021, at the Anderson Tribute Center in Hood River, Oregon. A viewing will begin at 10:00 with a family prayer at 10:30. Graveside services will be at 12:00 at the Idlewilde Cemetery, Hood River, Oregon.
