Our dear father, husband, grandfather and friend, Lawrence Boyd Cardon, progressed from this existence to return to his Father in Heaven on November 26, 2011. Dad you will be sorely missed, but we all take great joy in knowing that you are relieved of all the great pain and suffering that you have endured for so long.

Lawrence Boyd Cardon was born to Lawrence Marion and Julia May Wheeler Cardon on June 7, 1929, in Downey, Idaho. He joined four sisters and soon after a fifth sister. His family farmed in several areas of Cache Valley in Idaho and Utah. His family moved to a new farm near Burley, Idaho when Boyd was a teenager and there he met his eternal sweetheart, Donna B. Cardon of Heyburn, Idaho. They married on August 19, 1948 in Burley, Idaho and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple on January 24, 1950.

Boyd and Donna farmed throughout their working years. They started out with a small dairy and farm near Burley, Idaho. In 1955 they moved to the Yakima Valley, Washington where they had several farms in Grandview and Prosser. In 1977 they moved to Hood River, Oregon where they raised pears and apples. In 1992 they retired and moved to Spanish Fork, Utah and then finally to Payson, Utah.

Boyd was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in several positions, one of his favorites being a counselor to President Mark Martin of the Prosser, Washington Branch.

Boyd and Donna have seven children, Michael Lawrence (Christy) of Brigham City, UT; Dennis V of Prescott Valley, AZ; Darrell Boyd of Hood River, OR; Geneal Watts (Steve) of Odell, OR; Wayne Calvin (Martha) of The Dalles, OR; Jolene Cason (Roy) of West Jordan, UT; and Melinda Palmer (Dwight) of Spanish Fork, UT. They also have been blessed with 30 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Julia and Elizabeth May Cook; two brothers-in-law, Milton Payne and Floyd West; and two daughters-in-law, Hazel Cardon and Tammy Cardon.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Payson and Utah Valley hospitals and of Alpine Hospice and all the other fine medical personnel who have helped Dad with his many ailments and surgeries. We also want to thank the members of the Payson Highline Ward for their caring service. We also offer a special thank-you to a special neighbor who taught us all what serving your “neighbor” is all about.

A viewing was held at the Walker Family Mortuary located at 587 South 100 West from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. Funeral services were held at the Payson Highline Ward Chapel located at 586 West 1750 South at 11:00 AM with a viewing held at 10:00 AM. Interment followed at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations be made to the LDS missionary Fund.
