right shoulder. Wheel marks showed that it had traveled about 24 yards along the shoulder before it was stopped abruptly by the abutment. This evidence led to the belief that young Porter, the sole occupant of the machine, had fallen asleep.

Young Porter’s neck had been broken when his head was thrown against the windshield or the cowling of the auto. The steering wheel had been bent forward to an upright position.

Mr. Porter was born April 24, 1923, in Morgan. His father is college editor and assistant professor of English in charge of journalism studies at Utah State Agricultural college.

He obtained his education in Logan city schools. Last May, he was graduated from Logan senior high school, where he had been active in football, track, dramatics and journalism.

During the summer he had been employed as an attendant at Anderson servie station on North Main street. He also had served as a carrier-salesman for The Salt Lake Tribune.

Surviving are his parents, one sister, Mrs. Genevieve Porter Johnson of Spokane, Wash.; one brother, Lawrence Porter of Logan and a grandmother, Mrs. Ella Hoopes of Logan.
