Whitney A. Thorp died on Sunday, December 16, 2012. She was born in Ogden, Utah to Kenneth Lee and Norma Faye Cardon on October 1, 1942.
She was raised in Utah and Oregon, and attended Alsea High School and South Salem High School.
Whitney attended Oregon State University and married Curtis Mason in June, 1963. They lived in Texas and Virginia, and raised three children. They were married for 16 years.
In September 1988, Whitney married Maurice Y. Thorp. He died in May of 1997. Whitney worked as an educator, a homemaker, a technical writer, and a consultant. She retired in 2008.
Whitney enjoyed creating crafty gifts, was a wonderful friend, and knew how to really listen to a person. The body of her life’s work is seen in the lives of her three children: daughter Michelle Muir (Steve), daughter Andrea Rush (Rodney), son Craig, She is also survived two grandsons, and six granddaughters, as well as family and friends who mourn her passing.
A memorial service was held Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Restlawn Funeral Home. Visitation was from 12:00-1:00 pm, with a service at 1:00-2:00 pm.
