He married Jean Cardon in Preston Idaho September 11, 1942; their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the Ogden Temple February 15, 2001.

Stew was educated in the Ogden City School System and attended Weber College.

Dad was an active member of the Burch Creek 6th ward, and looked forward to taking the sacrament at home when could no longer attend meetings. He has been active in the American Cancer Society, serving as drive chairman. He was president of the Weber County Cancer Society, past president of the Ogden Exchange Club, past director of the Ogden Golf and Country Club, active in the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, Weber College Boosters, The Weber Club and a lifetime member of the Elks Club.

In 1937, he began his banking career at Commercial Security Bank. He started as a chaser and worked in various capacities until 1953 when he was named manager of the bank loan department. He was promoted to assistant vice president in 1954. He will be remembered most for his connection to the local auto industry for making thousands of individual car loans and his work with the dealerships. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Auto” by his friends and customers. He also managed the 36th and Harrison CSB branch before retiring from the bank after 45 years of service.

His love for his family, golfing on Monday and Thursday with his friends and taking trips with Mom occupied his retirement years. He especially loved the hugs and kisses from his great-grandchildren Mason, McKayla and Kaylee and always enjoyed being with his 11 grandchildren. Dad was the leader of our family and will be missed by each and every one of us, but he is prepared for, and looking forward to rejoining his mom, dad and siblings. Thanks for the many great memories.
