30 Jun 1934 – 24 Mar 2015
Monther-in-law of Maurine Anderson (3rd Great-Granddaughter of Philip and Martha Marie Cardon)

Burton and Wanda Napier welcomed their beautiful daughter, Ilene, into their home on June 30, 1934. She returned to them and her Heavenly Father on March 24, 2015.
Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother – affectionately known by her great-grandchildren as “Grandma Purple” – was born in Woodruff, Idaho, on her grandmother’s kitchen table. She was raised in the small town of Malad, Idaho, and graduated from Malad High School in 1952. While working in Salt Lake City, she met her eternal sweetheart, Harold Stettler, and they were married on October 30, 1953. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 18, 1970. Ilene and Harold spent much of their life in Sunset and raised their 5 children there until Harold’s death in 1977.
Ilene found true love once again when she met Doyle Wharton; they were married on August 10, 1984. Ilene welcomed and loved Doyle’s 4 children and their families as her own. They settled in Riverton and lived there until Doyle’s death in 2012. She remained in their home until her passing.
Ilene was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent her life helping and serving others. Her home was always open to her family, and she loved to have them visit and share their lives and many adventures with her.
She is survived by her children: Susan (Brent) Andrews, Jane (Irvin) Hansen, Timothy (Krista) Stettler, Jeffery (Julie) Stettler, and Michael (Maurine) Stettler, and her stepchildren: Dennis Wharton, Patrick Wharton, Paul (Kathy) Wharton, and Maureen Juli (Glen) Wade; 30 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and siblings Bardell (Emogene) Napier and Deanna (Seymour) Oblad. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold Stettler; her second husband, Doyle Wharton; and by her grandsons: Joshua Stettler, Jeremy Andrews, and Trevor Wharton.
Services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Redwood Ward Chapel, 12070 South Laurel Chase Drive, Riverton. Viewing will be Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 S. 2200 W., Riverton. There will also be a viewing at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service.
Dedication of the grave will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm at Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., in Ogden, Utah.
Ilene’s family will be forever grateful for the kind and loving service so unselfishly given to her by ward members, neighbors, friends, and the medical staff who helped with her care.
