Walter Earl Cardon

BLACKFOOT – Walter Earl Cardon, 59, retired auto dealer who lived at 875 Riverton Road, died at his home Thursday at 11:30 p.m.. after a lengthy illness of sclerosis

He was born at Ogden, Utah, Dec. 24, 1911, to Walter A. and Mabel Moore Cardon. He married Venna Hokanson June 9, 1932, at Cedar City, Utah. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1928. He was associated with his father in the retail grocery business from 1941 to 1946, served as aircraft engine supervisor at Hill Air Force Base from 1946 to 1951, was service and product education manager for Tractor Implement Co. of Salt Lake City until coming to Blackfoot in 1951 as Pontiac-Cadillac dealer. He sold out in 1962 and retired in 1963.

He was a former member of the Blackfoot Kiwanis Club and the Idaho Auto Dealers Association. He was a member of the Blackfoot 10th Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Venna H. Cardon; a son, Scott Earl Cardon, and a daughter, Irene Galloway, all of Blackfoot. Also surviving are two grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Cardon, Ogden; and the following sisters: Mrs. Warren (Jean) Stewart, Ogden; Mrs. William H. (Phyllis) Thomas, Palos Verdes Estates, California; and Mrs. Lee (Fay) Richards, Santa Fe, N.M.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Blackfoot 10th LDS Ward at 10 a.m. Monday with Bishop Golden Elison conducting. The family will greet friends at the Howard Packham Mortuary Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and one-half hour prior to services Monday.

W. Earl Cardon

BLACKFOOT, Idaho – W. Earl Cardon, 59, of Blackfoot, formerly of Ogden, died at his home Thursday night following a short illness.

Mr. Cardon was born Dec. 24, 1911, in Ogden, a son of Walter A. and Mabel Moore Cardon.

He was married to Venna Hokanson on June 9, 1932, in Cedar City, Utah.

He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College.

He was employed in Ogden at the Cardon Market from 1941 to 1946. He then worked as an airplane mechanic at Hill Air Force Base. He later moved to Salt Lake City and was service manager for the Tractor Implement Co. and then moved to Blackfoot and operated the Cadillac-Pontiac dealership.

He was a member of the Idaho Auto Dealers Association and Blackfoot Kiwanis Club.

Surviving are his widow, one son and one daughter, Scott Earl Cardon, Mrs. Irene Galloway, all of Blackfoot; two grandchildren; his parents of Ogden; three sisters, Mrs. Lee (Fay) Richards, Santa Fe, N.M.; Mrs. William H. (Phyllis) Thomas, Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; Mrs. Warren (Jean) Stewart, Ogden.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Larkin Chapel of the Dawn in Ogden where friends may call Monday one hour prior to services.

Burial will be in Ogden City Cemetery.
