Vickie Cardon Brown, “Marnee”, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, surrounded by her children.
Marnee was born on May 5, 1952, to Flora Jean and Donald Claire Cardon in El Paso, Texas. She attended Burges High School and was proud to be the All Burges Girl and Class of 1970. After graduation she went to BYU then finished her degree in Elementary Education at UTEP. Mom’s favorite titles were wife, mother, and Marnee. After that her most prized title was teacher. Mom taught at several Elementary schools in the Socorro Independent School District where she earned the honored title of Teacher of the Year, District Teacher of the Year and Region 19 Teacher of the Year. She touched many lives in the students she taught and the teachers she associated with. Mom was known to delight in bringing homemade goodies like brownies and Texas Sheet Cake.
Mom was a faithful, obedient member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings, and she taught us all how to serve and love in any capacity. Like our dad, her most favorite day was May 25, 1973, when she and dad were married in the Mesa Temple where they became Eternal Companions.
Marnee is survived by her children: Kimberley, Kristin (Brandon), Jennise (Weston), Donald and Amanda; grandchildren Kennedy, Olivia, Jack, Zach, Caleb, Ella and Buddy. Her siblings: Hettie (Ted), Dean (Lori), Frances (Steve) and Denise (Todd). She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, son Kenneth, her parents and brother Dee.
Our family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and therapists for their tender loving care and friendship towards our mom along her stroke recovery journey.
Visitation will be from from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM with a Prayer Service at 10:30 AM and a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1212 Sumac. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery.
