Varcelle LaMond Swartfager, 85, of Inwood, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at City Hospital.
Born June 17, 1923 in Elko, NV, he was the son of the late Raymond Otis Swartfager and Naomi Zenda Stackhouse Swartfager.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U. S. Army.
Mr. Swartfager was retired from Lucent Technology.
He is survived by his wife, Zelda Jackson Swartfager; two sons, Gibson May, of Virginia, and Maurice May, of Colorado; one daughter, Ellen May, of Virginia, and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Services and interment will be private.
