Valerie Lynn Evans of Clarkston passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, after a lifelong struggle with diabetes.

Valerie was born Nov. 4, 1964, in Lewiston to Joseph and Catherine Evans. Excelling in academics, Valerie graduated from Moscow High School in 1983. She later graduated Lewis-Clark State College, fulfilling her dream of becoming a registered nurse.

Although doctors advised that having a child would be a health risk, she lovingly gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Collette Danielle Cardon, March 27, 1991, who now resides in Clarkston.

Valerie worked at Gritman Medical Center from 1988 until 1995, when renal failure made it impossible to continue her employment. In spite of failing health, she continued her quest for knowledge by attending college and striving toward a new career path.

Valerie loved her faithful pet Chihuahua and constant companion, Daphne Louise, who brought her much joy and happiness.

In addition to her daughter Collette, Valerie is survived by her brothers and sisters, Barbara, Joseph (Debbie), Barry Evans, and Diane (Don) Huppert.

A memorial service for Valerie has been scheduled for 11 a.m. next Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1123 16th Ave., Clarkston.
