With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Thomas Dean Cardon Sr. (“Tompa”), on December 5, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born on January 17, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, son of William Afton Cardon Sr. and Hettie Tenney. He was the last of his clan, preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William Afton Cardon Jr., Donald Cardon, and Hugh Cardon. His former spouse, Barbara Hunter Cardon, passed away in 2019.

Tom is survived by his wife, Debbie Cardon, and a large combined family that includes his children Thomas Dean Cardon Jr., David Michael Cardon, Keith Preston Cardon, and Elisabeth Ann Feinstein; his stepchildren David Quest Kelly, Crys Kelly, Derek Keith Kelly, and Colleen Kelly Poplin, and 20 grandchildren.

A proud graduate of Burges High School in El Paso, Class of 1964, Tom began working as an electrician for ADT. He spent most of his career as a real estate agent for Cardon & Company in his beloved hometown. Later he worked as a medical claims community liaison. He retired in 2020. Tom was known for being fastidious, dependable, and kind. Following retirement, he and Debbie moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to their children. His family was his pride and joy.

Tom was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held various leadership positions, including High Priest Group Leader and Stake Executive Secretary. His faith was his cornerstone, guiding him in relationships and service to others.

A man of many interests, Tom had a lifelong passion for classic cars. He enjoyed family camping trips, researching family history, and preserving keepsakes. He was always ready to share stories of his older relatives, particularly of his beloved mother. A music lover, Tom sang with church choirs in both El Paso and Oklahoma City.

A memorial service will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Edmond, 1315 E 33rd St., Edmond, OK, USA 73013, Friday, January 17, 2025, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
