POCATELLO – Thelma R. Stone, 96, longtime resident of Pocatello, passed away Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2002 at an assisted living center from causes incident to age.

She was born October 18, 1906 in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Silias and Amanda Cardon Ricks. She attended schools in River Heights and Logan, Utah.

On December 8, 1927, she married Samuel (Mark) Stone, in Ogden, Utah. They lived in Ogden, Utah for several ears, and then moved to Burley, Idaho, where they farmed. She moved to Pocatello in 1946, where she lived the rest of her life. She was employed at National Laundry and also worked for Idaho State University, in custodial services. Her husband, Samuel (Mark) Stone passed away November 2, 1990.

Thelma was a member of the LDS Church. She loved to travel and went on many trips with her twin sister and her family to see the many sites in the United States, including Hawaii. she drove her own car and had her driver’s license until she was 93. She also loved and greatly enjoyed being with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Ray (Alice K.) Stone, Pocatello, Carl R. (LaRae) Stone, Boise, Idaho, Kent R. (Juanita) Stone, Wendell, Idaho, four daughters , Maureen (Paul) Williams, Shanna E. (Clinton )Mitchell, LaVon Wells, all of Pocatello, Donna (Thomas) Carlsen, Dallas, Oregon; six brothers Clyde (Jude) Ricks, Ogden Utah, Don (Jean) Ricks, Ogden, Utah, Don (Jean) Ricks, Norwalk, California, Blaine (Marna) Ricks, Medford, Oregon, Sanford (Vera) Ricks, Bountiful, Utah, Floyd Ricks, Long Beach, California, Robert Ricks, Ogden, Utah; two sisters, Norma Hillyard, Logan, Utah, Edna Hemmlar, Medford, Oregon; a grandson she reared, Boyd Mark Stone Jr., Pocatello; 25 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant son, Keith, and a son, Boyd.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 6, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Manning-Wheatly Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave, with Bishop Scott Barfuss officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, Dec. 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Manning-Wheatly Funeral Chapel, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral chapel.


Pocatello – Funeral services for Thelma R. Stone, 96 of Pocatello, who died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 will be today, Friday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave., with Bishop Scott Barfuss officiating.

The family will receive friends today for one hour prior to services at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Omitted from Thursday’s obituary were the following family members who preceded her in death: three brothers, Leon Ricks, Claude Ricks and Orville Ricks, a twin sister, Phyllis Daggett, and a son in-law, Wendell Wells.
