Terry Morrison

Terry Morrison passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, October 7, 2010 in Salem, Oregon.

Terry was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to June and Reed Morrison. He was raised in Downey, Idaho, where he met and married the love of his life, Debbi. Their early years were spent in Idaho Falls, Idaho, happily raising their first seven children.

Terry and his family moved to Dallas, Oregon, in 1986, where they had their last 3 children. They moved to West Salem in 2003.

Terry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had the privilege of serving diligently as a missionary in New Zealand, a young men’s president, high councilmen and seminary teacher. In addition, he served the church in leadership positions as part of the bishopric, the stake presidency and in the LDS Boy Scout programs. He had a deep and abiding love, knowledge and testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and of the truthfulness of His Gospel.

Terry also volunteered many hours as a coach and #1 fan of his children’s sports teams. He had the opportunity to serve as president of the Dallas Mat Club and West Salem HS athletic booster club. He made a difference not only in his own children’s lives but in the lives of other children in the community as well.

For 24 years he was employed by West Coast Bank in various mortgage lending and real estate service departments where he succeeded because of his strong work ethic, dependability and organization skills. He served on several committees and boards related to his career. His co-workers appreciated his leadership, knowledge and support.

A man known for his devotion and commitment to family, Terry is survived by his loving wife, Debrah; and their ten children, Angela (Quint), Trevor (Rhoda), Shay (Kerri), Devin (Kalynn), Marshall (Amy), Drew (Jenn), Jace (Cirbi), Alissa, Trent and Tanner. Terry also took pride in his 14 grandchildren, Logan, Cole, Cassidy, Paige, Cael, Brynlee, Kadence, Dakota, Stryder, Kenady, Casen, Jacoby, Makena and Krew with whom he enjoyed spending time with. His delicious dutch oven cooking will be missed.

Terry is also survived by his parents, June and Reed Morrison; brothers, Lex and Larry; sister, Trudy; and his mother-in-law, Donna Carlsen.

He had a quiet and unassuming nature. His life revolved around his family and church. He was known for his great generosity, tender heart and loving spirit. His presence will be sorely missed by both his family and those fortunate enough to have known him.

Please join us in commemorating his life Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the Monmouth Oregon Stake Center at 3154 Eola Drive in West Salem. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Viewing will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
