Wife of Carey Jon Cardon


A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 28, 1999, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lake Oswego, for Carey Jon Cardon and Tena Hughes Cardon, who both died May 23 while climbing Mount Hood. Mr. Cardon was 31 and Mrs. Cardon was 29. 

Mr. Cardon was born Aug. 19, 1967, in Springfield and graduated from Sheldon High School in Eugene in 1985. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and physics from Portland State University in 1998 and for the past three months worked in purchasing and inventory for Intel’s customer support department in Hillsboro. 

Mrs. Cardon was born May 4, 1970, in Eugene, where she graduated from Willamette High School in 1988. An insurance agent, she had worked for J.D. Fulwiler & Co. Insurance in Portland since 1996. Her maiden name was Hughes. 

The couple married in 1990 and lived in Hillsboro for the past three years. 

Mr. Cardon’s survivors include his mother, Margaret of Bend; sister, Karen Cardon Gray of Leesburg, Va.; and brothers, Keith of Sumner, Wash., Craig of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Colin of Bend. 

Mrs. Cardon is survived by her parents, Sandra and Monroe Hughes of Eugene; and brother, Monte Hughes of Mountain Home, Idaho. 

Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances to a memorial fund that will be donated to Portland Mountain Rescue and the Hood River Crag Rats. Contributions may be made at any U.S. Bank branch. Arrangements are by Anderson Funeral Home in Hood River.
