Stephen Leroy Green passed away peacefully after a valiant three-and-half-year fight with brain cancer. He was born on January 6, 1947, in Rupert, Idaho, a son of Derald Lorenzo Green and Marie Blacker Green.
Stephen married his eternal companion Tamra Kay Larsen on May 29, 2004, in Newdale, Idaho. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 2006. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many callings. He especially enjoyed his calling with the High Priest group and serving as a temple worker. Stephen served a mission in the Central America Mission and was one of the first twelve missionaries to open the country of Venezuela to missionary work.
Stephen retired from the Army National Guard after 28 years as a Lt. Colonel. He was well respected as a unit commander. He successfully started and ran his own business as an independent insurance claim adjuster in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for 20 years and was recognized for his hard work and integrity in the community.
He had a great love for reading and collecting books. He was an avid BYU football fan and was honored as a Thursday’s Hero by the football team in 2011. He loved being at the games with his boys. He also loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Stephen is survived by his wife; his 5 children: Tricia (Jason) Christensen, Jared (Cathy) Green, Eric (Melissa) Green, Nicole (Clark) Goble, James (Jessica) Green; his 4 stepchildren: Brandon (Heidi) Van Walraven, Amber (Joel) Kent, Samantha (Matthew) Millburn, Christen (James) Jensen; his 30 grandchildren with 2 on the way; his father, Derald Green; and 5 siblings: Robert (Becky) Green, Diana (Larry) Haggerty, David (Jennifer) Green, Wayne Green, Donna (Dave) Jex.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Blacker Green. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013, at noon, with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Brigham City LDS 6th Ward building, 105 West Fishburn Dr.
