Stanley Prat Cardon, 91, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2002 in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born October 9, 1911, in Colonia Dublan, Mexico.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juliette Peney and children Josette (Glen) Hakes, of Mesa, Kirk (Ann), of Houston, Texas, Francine (David) Blocker, of Nashville, Tennessee, Christopher (Elizabeth), Michele (Kelly) Hall, of Middleton, Idaho, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by their son, Jean-Jacques.
Mr. Cardon graduated with a BA and MA in English from the University of Arizona and was elected to Phi Delta Kappa. He was an educator for 45 years. He worked primarily in the Phoenix Union High School District, and for the Tolleson and Glendale High School Districts. He was involved with the Arizona Inter-Scholastic Association, President of the Board of Directors of Anytown, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Camelback YMCA.
A life long active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, Stanley served a mission in French-speaking Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada. With his wife, he served two missions in the Swiss Temple.
Visitation will be Friday, December 27, at Chapel of Prayer, 108 North 56th Street, Mesa, from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be Saturday, December 28th, at 10:00 a.m., at the LDS Chandler Stake Building, 1155 East Ray Road, Chandler. Visitation from 9:00am-9:40am in the Relief Society room. Burial is in the Mesa City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, MADD, 1212 W. Camelback Phx, AZ 85013 or the charity of your choice.
