Brief Life History of Selenia Mesanile
When Selenia Mesanile (also spelled Mesenile) Walker was born on 4 February 1855, in Grantsville, Tooele, Utah, United States, her father, John Beauchamp Walker, was 40 and her mother, Elizabeth Ann Brown, was 40. She married Joseph Samuel Cardon on 23 July 1874, in Oxford, Oneida, Idaho, United States. Her membership record from the Utah, FamilySearch, Early Church Information File, 1830-1900 shows that when they married, her name was spelled Selina Mesenile Cardon Walker. They were the parents of six sons and five daughters. She was survived by her husband Joseph Samuel Cardon and children Salenia Verminnie (Ernest Guy) Taylor; Joseph Elmer (Lucinda Hurst), LeRoy Phillip (Margetta Adelaide Call), Edith (George Essom) Clayson, Junius Welborn (Mae Whiting), and Cornelia (Calvert Alonzo) Allred.
She was preceded in death by Sarah Elizabeth Cardon (1877), Josephine Susette Cardon, Leonard Jesse Cardon, Eugene William Cardon, and Mansel Lorenzo Cardon (1904).
She lived in Cache, Utah Territory in 1860 where her name was spelled Salina Walker. She lived in Box Elder, Utah, United States in 1870 under the name Slina Walker and Taylor, Apache, Arizona, United States in 1880 under the name of Slenia M. Cardon, spouse of Jos. S. Cardon. In 1965, upon the death of her son LeRoy Phillip Cardon, his death certificate lists her name as Salina Walker.
She died on 6 October 1906, in Colonia Dublán, Chihuahua, Mexico, at the age of 51, and was buried in Dublán Memorial Cemetery, Colonia Dublán, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico.
