LOGAN, Nov. 3 — Mrs. Sarah Sophia Wilson Cardon, 78, wife of Joseph E. Cardon, prominent civic and ecclesiastical leader of Logan, died at the family home, 369 Boulevard, Wednesday evening, following a long illness.
Mrs. Cardon was born at Newton, Cache county, Oct. 5, 1870, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Ann McCormick Wilson, who came to Utah in 1864 from England. After a few years in Newton and Clarkston they moved to Logan.
Mrs. Cardon was active in auxiliaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also a musician, having served as organist in the Logan Sixth L D S ward for 10 years, also as a member of the Logan L D S Eleventh ward choir for many years. She was secretary-treasurer of the First L D S ward primary, which was one of the first to be organized in the Cache L D S stake.
She was a member of the Cache L D S stake Relief society for 20 years, and was a member of the Brigham Young camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was elected city recorder in 1896 and was the first woman in Utah to hold such an office.
She married Mr. Cardon, Sept. 16, 1896, in the Logan L D S temple. Mrs. Cardon spent several months in Europe doing genealogical work.
Surviving are her husband, one sone and four daughters: Mrs. Rula C. Pitzer, Aptas, Cal.; Bartell Cardon, Oakland, Cal.; Mrs Karma Woodward, Tooele; Mrs. Sybil Kenner and Mrs. Blanche Thompson, Logan; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers and one sister: William and John H. Wilson, Logan, and Mrs Florence Parkinson, Twin Falls, Ida.
Funeral arrangements are being made with the Kenneth Lindquist mortuary.

She was married Sept 16 1896 in the Logan Temple to Joseph E Cardon civic and church leader of Logan Mrs Cardon was elected city recorder in 1896 and was the firs woman in Utah to hold such an office Surviving are her husband one son and four daughters eight grandchildren and one great grandchild
Funeral services were held in Logan Saturday and burial was there

LOGAN, Utah, Nov. 5 (U.P.) — Mrs Sarah Sophia Wilson Cardon, 78, wife of Joseph E Cardon, Logan civic leader, died here Wednesday night.
She was the firs woman in Utah to be elected a city recorder. She was active in LDS church affairs.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Kenneth Lindquist Mortuary.

LOGAN — Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Sophia Wilson Cardon, 78, former Logan city recorder, and wife of Joseph E. Cardon, Logan businessman who died at the family residence, 369 Boulevard, Wednesday following a long illness, will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Logan Fifth ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Joseph Symons, bishop.
Friends may call at the family home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time for services. Burial will be in the Logan city cemetery under the direction of the Kenneth Lindquist mortuary.
Mrs. Cardon was active in L D S church work and was one of the first organists of the Logan L D S Eleventh ward. Her husband is a former state legislator and also served for many years as president of the Cache L D S stake here.
