Smith ordained by Brigham Young 1 July 1866. Brigham Young ordained by The Three Witnesses of the Book of Mormon, 14 Feb 183_. The Three Witnesses were called by revelation to choose and ordain twelve apostles. They were set apart for this purpose by Joseph Smith the Prophet. Joseph Smith was ordained by Peter, James and John, who were chosen by Jesus Christ, see John 15:16. I am now one of the seven presidents of the seventies of Gridley Stake, Calif. Set apart to this office by Clifford D. Young, assistant to the twelve, 1952. I was first district president of the Home Missionaries of the Chico, California Area.

Our people were forced to leave their homes in old Mexico when I was eleven years old. We lived in El Paso Texas for two or three years before returning to Mexico. Conditions were bad in Mexico for many years. Many of our livestock were stolen or taken by force by the Mexicans. After a few years we left Mexico for good. My father sold his property there. He purchased a ranch in Frionia Texas. Also a farm at Verdan New Mexico. Grandmother “Sarah Welbren Cardon” died and was buried there. I went to school at Juarez Stake Academy, Mexico also Gila Academy at Thatcher, Arizona. Was active in athletics in these schools. Taking first place in 100 yard dash, 1st place 220 yard, 1st place 440 yard, 1st place broad jump, 2nd place high jump. 1st place of Arizona State in shotput. Also high point man in basketball.
After being married lived in Safford Arizona for some years. Also some time at Mesa Arizona. Later moved to Farmington, New Mexico. Planted a fruit orchard there. In 1950 moved to Chico California. Worked on first chapel here also setting out a fruit orchard here at west end of Sacramento Ave.
I constructed the house with the help of my sons. The soil here is very good and much water. The fruit is of extra good quality.
