No funeral services for Rosa “Mae” Guild, 87, will be held as per her request. Inurement will be next to her husband in the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, Wyoming.
Mae passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Platte County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland, of natural causes.
She was born May 7, 1925, at the family farm on Slater Flats to Fred and Lucile (Menuey) Marke. She rode a horse to Box Elder Country School and then a bus to Chugwater High School where she graduated. She received her teaching credentials from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, and then taught school at the same Box Elder Country School and for a while in Glenrock, Wyoming.
After marrying Roger Guild and having two sons, Fred and Floyd, the family moved to Kaycee, Wyoming, where her husband worked in United States Soil Conservation. Upon his death, she moved them back to Wheatland to be closer to family. She worked for Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company and Platte County Library.
Mae loved to sew, play cards and Hot Dice, stitch on plastic canvas, embroidery, and work in her flower garden.
She is survived by sons, Fred of Tennessee and Floyd of Missouri; brother, Ralph Marke of Brush, Colorado; and various nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roger, on April 11, 1962; her mother, Lucile, on December 7, 1971; father, Fred, on October 15, 1974; and two sisters, Fern Graham, on August 17, 2010 and Helen Brecht, on March 16, 2011, both of Wheatland.
