Ronald L. Rasmussen passed away on October 22, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born September 23, 1934 in Ogden, Utah to Clarence L. and Blanche Van Woerkom Rasmussen.

Ron married LaRae Byrne on July 28, 1951. They spent 61 great years together.

He was a hard worker and a great story teller. Some of our favorite stories are his job experiences when he was young. He was a paper boy for the Ogden Standard Examiner, shined shoes on 25th and Washington Blvd. and worked for the Commercial Security Bank. We loved his stories about growing up in Ogden.

Ron was employed by the SPRR and later by the UPRR. He worked for Weber County Fire Dept. and retired from the Ogden City Fire Dept. He later worked for IRS.

His hobbies were fishing, hunting and camping. Together Dad and Mom remodeled their first home in Ogden. They later built their home in Liberty and the Cabin at Henry Lake, ID, where we have many wonderful memories. The last 10 years they lived in Willard. There wasn’t anything Dad couldn’t repair or build using his “scrap pile”. We will miss his knowledge.

After retirement they became Snowbirds making lasting friendships where ever they traveled.

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, LaRae and their five children, Rick (Trudy), Karen (Ronald) Buhrley, Wendy Myers, Shanna (David) Rhees and Dale (Lori); 18 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Also, his brother-in-law, Darrel Hunt; one niece and two nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and a sister, Geniel Hunt.

The family would like to thank Drs. Carl Gray, Joseph Graham, Jason Stinnett and Eric Johnson, PA for the care they provided. Also, thanks to the Intermountain Homecare Hospice team.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Friends may call on Friday, October 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Liberty Cemetery.
