Robert “Bob” Earl Stewart, 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, having spent the day surrounded by family after a long-fought battle against Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, followed by Influenza A. He was born on January 6, 1946, in Ogden, Utah, to Warren Howard and Jean Helen Cardon Stewart. He grew up in Ogden, where he attended Polk Elementary, Mt. Ogden Jr High, and Ogden High School, and spent summers working at the Ogden Country Club before beginning his sales career. He was a mischievous kid who loved sledding down Marilyn Drive, hiking in the mountains, and fishing with his dad.

Bob married Yvonne Marie Gilbertson on June 1, 1966, in Ogden, Utah. Together they raised three children, living throughout the Midwest before returning to South Weber, Utah in 1986. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together before Bob passed away.

Bob’s outgoing personality helped him excel at his decades long sales career. He was employed by different companies including Steiner Corporation (now ALSCO) and Anderson Mat, before becoming self-employed. He loved traveling, meeting new friends and clients, and it seemed everywhere we went, he would always know someone. If Bob knew you, you were his friend.

He had a passion for almost every sport. He was a talented golfer and started his career as the golf pro at the Skyway Golf Course in Tremonton, Utah. If he could have lived on the golf course, he would have. He loved to golf with friends for most of his life, but also loved to golf with his kids. He played racquetball for years, he refereed basketball for a short time, he was a runner, he coached his daughter’s softball team, he coached his youngest son’s Jr Jazz team, and could talk every NFL stat with his oldest son and grandson. He was also a fly fisherman and couldn’t wait to get out on any river, but he especially loved the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park. As much as he loved all things sports, his absolute favorite thing in the world was spending time with his family in Island Park, ID and West Yellowstone, MT. Not a year has passed that we haven’t all spent time there together. We have so many memories of fireworks, ice cream, fishing lessons, stinky geysers, time on the Fire Hole, parades, breakfasts on the river, and rock fights in the river. Our time there will never be the same without him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Yvonne Stewart; his daughter, Jennefer (Joel) Robison; his youngest son, Chris (Elena) Stewart; grandsons, Mason, Jude and Colin; and granddaughters, McKayla and Isla. Also survived by his brother, Doug (Dayle) Stewart and sister, Bonnie (Brent) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eldest son, David R. Stewart.

All of us are happy that Bob is playing golf with his son Dave today and every day.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Mount Ogden Health and Rehabilitation Center for their help with Bob. We saw angels at work who were patient and kind with him, even when he was his most stubborn. Thank you all for everything.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
