He was born July 1, 1948, in Burley, Idaho to Netta Baum and Robert F. Giles. He graduated from Murtaugh High School in 1967. He married Sandi Ann Spann, the love of his life, on September 13, 1969 in Burley, Idaho later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple December 16, 1978.

Robert was a devoted, hardworking man. In his younger years he worked for his father-in-law’s hay company and later found a passion for farming, which he did for several years. He also owned his own trucking company which eventually led him to Allready Logistics and Pilar Friesen, where he worked as a truck broker until the time of his death. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and son.  He delighted in spending time with his family and his grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Robert was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in various church callings and loved the gospel. Over the years Dad had made many friends through work and church and was dearly loved. Robert made friendships easily and those friendships lasted a life time. He was a good example to all those he encountered.
