Robert August Oscarson, 90, passed away November 26, 2001 in his hometown of Pleasant Grove.

Born Nov. 21, 1911 to Gustaf Emil and Wilhelmina Okerlind Oscarson, the seventh of ten children.

As a youth he was a member of the high school basketball team, and learned the value of hard work with his siblings on the family fruit farm. 

Married Betty Burningham of Orem, in the Salt Lake Temple on February 23, 1945. Along with raising his family of nine children, Bob was active in his community serving on the city council, as tax assessor, and as watermaster for the Pleasant Grove Irrigation Co. for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 84.

He was a lifetime farmer, and also worked for the Utah State Road and Mountain States Steel.

After the harvest you would find Dad with family and friends deer hunting in the mountains.

As a member of the LDS Church he served as Sunday School Superintendent, a faithful home teacher, and loved attending the Temple. He currently was a High Priest in the Pleasant Grove 9th Ward. He leaves behind his love for his friends, his family and his Savior. Bob has a burning testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife Betty, children: Linda (Lloyd) Laycock; Robert K.; David A. (Kathie); Anna Beth (LaMar) Mecham; Shirlee (Tom) Webb; Betty (Ed) Adams; Kathy (Bruce) King; Diane (Les) Moss; and Allen L. (Karyn); 40 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his sister, Dora Hales and sister-in-law, LaPreal Crystal. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001 at 12 noon in the Pleasant Grove Ninth Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Fri. evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

A special thanks to Dr. McClain, Dr. Ridge, and all those special people who helped care for Dad.
