Rhea Larsen

Rhea Ricks Larsen, 84, died early Saturday morning following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 4, 1882, at Logan, the daughter of Joel and Susette Cardon Ricks.  She married William H. Larsen Dec. 9, 1908, in the Logan LDS Temple.  He died Aug 26, 1926.  A small son, Paul, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Larsen served as Cache County recorder from January 1927 to January 1935.  She worked as assistant recorder for three years before she was elected to the position.

She was an active member of the Logan 7th Ward and served in the MIA as treasurer, teacher, counselor and president and in the Relief Society as treasurer and counselor.  She was also a Sunday School teacher and interested in genealogical work.

Surviving are one son and four daughters.  William H. Larsen, Santa Maria, Calif.;  Mrs. Alton P. (Rhea) Maughan, Soda Springs, Idaho;  Mrs. Thomas (Cora) Johnston, San Francisco, Calif.;  Mrs. E. D. (Marian) Crockett, Hansen, Idaho;  Mrs. Robert F (Claire) Hammond, Logan;  11 grandchildren;  7 great-grandchildren;  brothers and sisters, Mrs. Reda Allen, Banida, Idaho;  Lewis C. Ricks, Bakersfield, Calif.;  Mrs. Irene Bastow, Oakland Calif.;  Paul C. Ricks, Orinda, Calif.;  Mrs. Norman (Carrie) Salvesen, Logan.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 12 noon in the 7th-13th Ward Chapel with Bishop Darrel Q. Dixon of the 7th Ward officiating.  Friends called at Hall Mortuary in Logan Monday from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services.  Burial was in the family plot in the Logan City Cemetery.
