Reid Moore Hiatt, 54, of Lynchburg, Va. died Sunday, Feb. 3, 1985 of a heart attack.

He was born Feb. 26, 1930 in Payson, a son of William L. and Mary Jane Moore Hiatt. He attended Payson schools and Utah State University and graduated from Brigham Young University.

He served a mission for The LDS Church in Western Canada. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He married Susette Violate Cardon in the Mesa, Ariz. LDS Temple. He worked in Richland, Wash. and later moved to Lynchburg. Va., working for Babcock and Wilcox as a nuclear engineer.

He served as a counselor in the Roanoke Stake presidency for three years and then served as stake president for seven years until the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Susette of Lynchburg, Va. and three daughters and three sons: Mrs David (Jeni) Nye of Logan, Mrs. Craig (Debi) Debenham of Salt Lake City, Brock Hiatt, Cien Hiatt, Kyle Hiatt and Griff Hiatt, all of Lynchburg, Va., three grandchildren; and brothers and sisters: Mary B. Harding of Las Vegas, Nev., Erma Lewis and Barbara Dedrickson of Spanish Fork, Renee Fluckinger of Bedford, Wyo., Donna Kunze of Springville, Norma Hiatt of Provo, Harold Hiatt, Rex Hiatt, Dean Hiatt and Helen Andreason, all of Payson. Two borthers and a sister preceded him in death.

Services were Thursday.

Burial was in the Payson City Cemetery.
