Ray S. Burnham, age 78, passed away July 22, 1995 at his home in Salt Lake City.

The youngest of five boys, he was born July 8, 1917 in Rexburg, Idaho to Luther Charles and Minnie Stout Burnham. He married Helen Ruchti on July 3, 1940 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Ray grew up in Pocatello, Idaho. He was a machinist at the Naval Ordinance Plant until it closed in 1959. His Civil Service Classification was GS12. He came to Salt Lake City in 1959 to work for Sperry Utah, where he worked as Group Leader, Senior Cost Estimator and Cost Estimation Supervisor. After 20 years at Sperry Utah, he retired in 1979.

An ardent outdoorsman, Ray loved hunting and fishing. In later years he took up golf. Ray was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 1986 and has been fighting it ever since. At the time of Ray’s diagnosis, his wife, Helen, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Survived by his wife, Helen; two children, Connie Rae (Ronald) Martin of Pocatello, Idaho; G Cardon (Cindy) Burnham of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren, Ronald, Wendy, Debra and Michael Shawn of Pocatello, Idaho; Rebecca Ann and Kenneth of Salt Lake City, Utah. Also survived by numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Burnham on December 20, 1980.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 29, 1995, 10 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South.
