Phil Douglas Gilson (Darling) left for a long river rafting trip November 29, 2004.
Phil was born in Salt Lake City on October 28, 1950 to Vervin and Jean Gilson. He attended Highland High School where he was a cheerleader. He was active in diving and was named All American. Also, he was a Utah State High School Diving Champion. A life long athlete, he enjoyed, golf, skiing, and tennis. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
Phil worked for P.M. Engineering, Robert & Schaffer, and Gilson Engineering. One of his greatest accomplishments was Project Manager of Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.
Married Penny D. Tedesco (Bud) on April 14, 1984. Phil was extremely devoted to his family, Penny, Gabby, Pesto, Jelly Bean, and Monet.
Phil is survived by his wife, parents, brothers, Larry (Barb), Jim (Meg), and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Cottonwood Country Club, 1780 East Lakewood Drive, Salt Lake City, on Monday, December 6, 2004 from 5-7 p.m.
