Paul B. Cardon, 42, 4826 Quail Point Road (3355 East) well-known scientific researcher and founder of the Minerals Refining Co., died Monday, 11:55 p.m., at a Salt Lake hospital after an extended illness.

Mr. Cardon was associated for many years in a research capacity with the University of Utah and invented and donated a heart machine to the school.

HE WAS ALSO known for his contributions to the fields of metallurgic chemistry and electronics. At the time of his death he was establishing an electronics concern in Murray.

HE WAS BORN Aug. 10, 1920, in Logan, a son of Louis Samuel and Rebecca Ann Ballard Cardon. He married the former Constance Loizos of Murray.

SURVIVORS INCLUDE his widow; a son, and two daughters, Samuel, Mary Ellen, and Ann, all of Salt Lake City; his mother, of Logan, and six sisters: Mrs. Margaret C. Hickman, Mrs. V. L. (Rebecca) Hickman, Mrs. Thomas (Edna) Taylor, all Logan; Mrs. Frank E. (Helen) Lamb, Hyde Park, Cache County; Mrs. M. P. (Ruth) Leonard, Farmington, and Mrs. Keith E.(Lucille), Reading, Centerville, Davis County.

A MEMBER OF the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Cardon was an elder in the Holladay 16th Ward.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at noon in the Holladay 16th LDS Ward Chapel, 4407 Fortuna Way.

FRIENDS MAY CALL at 36 E. 7th South, Thurs-day from 6:30-8-p.m. and .Friday prior to 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
