OCEAN PARK — Patricia “Patti” Ploium, 83, passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2022, at her home in Ocean Park, Wash. after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Patricia was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Webster, SD to Raymond and Bernadine Waddle. She graduated from Fort Vancouver (1957), and then from Clark College in Vancouver (1977) with an associate’s degree in nursing. She was president of the Student Nurses Association, RN for Washington and Oregon. Pat retired from her nursing career in 1993.
Patti is survived by her husband, Norm Ploium; her children Kelly Edgerton (husband Jeff Sterling, Virginia), Jeff Cardon (Ocean Park), Lon Cardon (wife Debbie, Tiburon, Calif.), Jennifer Staudenraus (Longview); her sister, Shirley Klattenhoff (Vancouver). Her eldest sister, Donna Heimbuch, passed away in 2015. She leaves behind 10 surviving grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous other loved ones. She loved them all dearly.
Patti’s joy was living at the beach. Her greatest pleasure was working in the yard with her flowers and shrubs. She loved the beauty of watching her flowers bloom and thrive. Her yard often had passersby stopping to comment on the beauty, which gave her great pride. We know she will be an eternal gardener in heaven. Pat will forever be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. A graveside service is scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Northwood Park Cemetery, 16407 NE 15th.
