DECLO • Otis Rex Fries, 70, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, near Ely, Nev.

He was born Dec. 22, 1944, in Rupert, Idaho, the son of Otis and Berniece Cahoon Fries. He grew up and attended schools in Declo. He graduated from Declo High School in 1963. After high school, Rex married Kay Giles. This union was blessed with six children, Steve, Cheri, Chris, Melissa, Rachael and Matthew. They were later divorced. Rex married Cheryl Turck on July 9, 2005, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He loved photography, music, off-roading and camping with his family.

Rex is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; his children, Steve (Stefani) Fries of Twin Falls, Cheri Fries of Rocklin, Calif., Melissa (Mark) Huan of Shingle Springs, Calif., and Matthew Fries of Filer; two brothers, Dale (Dale) Fries of Barstow, Calif., and Gene (Eilene) Fries of Declo; four sisters, Mavis (Mike) Matthews of Declo, Merlene Wegener of Boise, Barbara (Kay) Vosburg of Sparks, Nev., and Janice (Dick) Anderson of Albion; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chris; a daughter, Rachael; and three brothers, Don, Charles and Dean Fries.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Declo LDS Stake Center, 213 W. Main St. in Declo. Arrangements have been provided by the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
