Myrtle Byrne

Myrtle Thelma Whittaker, 87, passed away at her home in Robertson, on Sept. 8. She was born on July 23, 1923, in Robinette, Ore., the daughter of Ralph Lafayette and Gladys Effie (Garret) Byrne.

She married Bern Lloyd Whittaker, on Dec.15, 1941, in Weiser, Idaho. 

Myrtle was a charter member of the Willow Creek Homemaker’s Club, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain View, and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed quilting, and visiting with friends, and her family. 

She is survived by her son, Wesley (Judith) of Robertson, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Robert (Roberta) Byrne, of Caldwell, Idaho; a brother, Ralph Byrne and a sister, Betty (Carl) Meyers, both of Baker, Ore., and a sister, Bonnie (DeLaine) Dunn, of Union, Ore. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Her husband, her parents, one brother, and two sisters preceded Myrtle in death.

The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Uinta Hospice Program or to the American Cancer Society.

There was a graveside service to celebrate Myrtle’s life on Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Fort Bridger Cemetery. Reverend Dave Pepper officiated at the graveside services. Interment followed at the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
