Murial Dene Cardon passed away Aug. 29, 2018 at Canyonlands Care Center.
Dene was born in Gallup, New Mexico on Nov. 10, 1940 to Walter Courtland Mason, Jr., and Esther Fern Shumway Mason. She was the youngest daughter of five children. She married Phil Cardon on April 28, 1962 and they had three children. She was a homemaker.
In Moab she was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. She served in the Monticello, Utah Temple until she became ill. She loved music and cowboy movies. Her favorite cowboy was Roy Rogers and her favorite cowgirl was Dale Evans.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Lavar (Susie) of Oklahoma, and Phillip Lamar (Lulie) of Michigan; a sister Janet Mason Hilton; a brother Stephen Bruce Mason; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Phil Cardon, her daughter Janet Lynn, and her sisters Geniel Mason Cothran and Elaine (Teddye) Mason Knudsen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Moab LDS 400 North Chapel. A viewing will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Spanish Valley Mortuary, and a family viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
