Wife of Lloyd Woodruff Cardon


Mayola Cardon, 84, died at her home in Winslow Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, after a lengthy illness. 
Mrs. Cardon was born July 19, 1921, the third of five children to Albert and May Shumway, in Shumway, Ariz.  The family moved to Winslow when she was 2 years old.  Her father went to work for Santa Fe Railroad.  She graduated from Winslow High School, attended Arizona State University.  In 1941 she was married to Lloyd W. Cardon in the Mesa LDS Temple.

  Mrs. Cardon was an avid reader who loved genealogy and gardening.  She was very active and faithful in her church assignments and callings. 

Mrs. Cardon is survived by her brothers, Boyd Shumway of Payson, and Duane (Margaret) of Mesa; sister Glenna English of Oregon; children Carol (Charlie) Hardy of Winslow, Alan (Patty) Cardon of Idaho, and Donald (Becky) Cardon of Flagstaff; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Bob Shumway; her parents, Albert and May Shumway; and her husband of 59 years, Lloyd W. Cardon.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Winslow.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the Relief Society room of the LDS Stake Center.  Bishop Tim DeWitt will be presiding, with interment to follow in Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
