Matthew C. Welker – Ogden – Matthew (Matt) Conor Welker, 26, passed to a better place on January 6, 2007, in Ogden. On November 28, 1980, Michael C. and Patti S. Cardon Welker held in their arms a healthy, happy, baby boy, full of potential and energy. He would complete their family and fill their lives with great happiness and joy. He began practicing his smiles and wily charms immediately. He shared many happy moments with his older brothers, Michael and Braden. He was especially close to Braden and enjoyed many carefree playful days while growing up on village way. Even though their interests in life were different, Matt knew he could always count on Braden.
Matt grew up in South Ogden area. He attended South Junior High School and Bonneville Senior High School. Early on, Matt showed his potential for greatness, excelling academically and athletically. Matt was honored academically by the United States Achievement Academy and was consistently named as an honor roll student. Matt was elected sophomore senator and was a member of the golf team at Bonneville. He made friends easily and kept those friends throughout his life.
Matt loved anything on two wheels, especially if it was fast. Most of all, Matt enjoyed being with his friends and his family. He loved and continued to cherish the time spent at the Redd’s cabin in Star Valley, Lake Powell house boat trips, and his trips to Mexico. Matt loved animals and never met an animal that wouln’t love him back, including and especially Lily the Rat.
Matt relied upon the love of his friends and all of his family. His Mom was his hero. She stood by him in the best of times and worst of times. There was never a deeper love.
Surviving are his father, Michael C. Welker; mother, Patti S. Cardon; two brothers, Michael J Welker and Braden K. Wlker; his grandparents, Mariam C. Welker and Jeanne Cardon.
Matt was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald L. Welker and Raymond C. Cardon.
