Wife of Douglas Cardon Merrill
Mary Eakin Merrill, 73, was reunited with her beloved Doug on September 5, 2019. Though we will miss her terribly, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with the love of her life.
Mary was the youngest of three children born to Fred Miles Eakin and Leah Gibbs Eakin. She married Douglas Cardon Merrill on March 24, 1979. Together they had one child, Jenny.
Mary was passionate about many things. Including the love of her grandkids, the many pets she had over the years and politics. Over the years Mary dedicated many hours volunteering for various political campaigns and animal charities. Mary was the office manager at The Salt Lake Country Club from 1998 until she retired in 2018. She took great pride in her work and loved her job clear up until retirement. Mary was a strong woman with a fierce personality and a great heart. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Crane (Chad), grandchildren Gracie, Haley, Zackary, Katelyn, Abigail, Madison, and brother Fred Eakin (Charlette).
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister Shirley Burrows, and her husband. A viewing for family and friends will take place at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 S Highland Drive SLC, Utah 84106 from 3:00-3:45 pm on September 16, 2019, with a funeral service following at 4:00 pm. Interment will be at the same location.
