Margaret Cardon Wessler’s gracious, intelligent, loving life ended on September 12, 2015 at her home in Gulfport.
She was born on October 18, 1915 to Leah Ivins and Philip Vincent Cardon in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Utah State University where she received a Bachelors Degree and from the Columbia School of Social Work with a Masters Degree. She worked for Family Service in New York City, and joined the Red Cross as a social worker during World War II. During that period, at the Richmond Army Air Base, she met Dr. Gerald Wessler to whom she was married from 1946 until his death 63 years later.
Mrs. Wessler is survived by her daughter Janet Marshall, her son Robert and his wife Barri, and her son William and his wife Nancy. She has four grandchildren, Adrienne Pares and husband Rickie, Brent Talavera and husband Kirk, Gerry Wessler and Zach Wessler. She has three great grandchildren, Ivins Talavera, Ann Cardon Pares and Ashby Lynn Pares.
The Wesslers are so very grateful for the loving care given by Dr. Richard Tilley, Diana McBride, Pam Bentz, Keitha Norwood, Paulette Dean, Sandra Riser, and Caroline Roach.
There will be a memorial service at St Mark’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St Mark’s Episcopal Church,11322 W. Taylor Rd. 39503, the Humane Society of South Mississippi, 2615 25th Ave. 39501, or just good memories of Margaret will be appreciated.
