RICHMOND, Cache County – Mrs. Lucy Cardon Merrill, 81, died Tuesday morning at a hospital in Rupert Ida., after suffering injuries in a fall at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Davis Green, Paul, Ida. 

She was born Feb. 28, 1870, at Logan, Utah, a daughter of John Paul and Susannah Goudin Cardon.

She attended Logan city schools and the old Brigham Young College at Logan. On Sept. 25, 1890, she was married to William Merrill in the Logan Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and made her home in Richmond. Her husband died last July 8.

She was active in church and civic affairs and had served as president of the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Assn. and Primary of Benson L D S Stake and president of the Relief Society and Y W M I A of the Richmond L D S Ward. She also was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters: W. Paul Merrill, Franklin County probate judge, Preston, Ida.; John C. Merrill, Bishop Keith C., Merrill and Mrs. Clarinda Green, Paul, Ida.; Mrs. Leah Bright, Lewiston, Utah, and Ariel C. Merrill, Seattle, wash.; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 brothers and sisters; Mrs. Mary C. Merrill, Preston, Ida.; John P. and Joseph E Cardon, Logan; Moses Cardon, Clearfield; Mrs. Sally Tuner, Washington, D. C.; George Cardon, Ogden; Hyrum Cardon and Mrs. Mandy Ricks, Benson Ward, Cache County; Ernest Cardon and Mrs. Violet Walker, Los Angeles. Cal..

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Richmond L D S Tabernacle by Justin Erickson, bishop of the Richmond Ward. Friends may call at the tabernacle Friday from 11 a.m. to time for services. Burial will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
