Louis B. Cardon – Funeral services for Louis Ballard Cardon, 56 of 1317 Michigan Ave, prominent Salt Lake businessman and former Utah State legislator, will be conducted Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Yale First Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Lattery-day Saints, 1431 Gilmer Dr.
Bishop Ferdinand Peterson will officiate. Friends may call at 280 E South Temple Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the family home Wednesday 10 a.m. until noon.
He died Sunday at 2 a.m. at his home of a coronary occlusion.
Mr. Cardon was former credit manager of the Covey Ballard Motor Co. He had served in the credit department of Continental Oil Col, was manager of the Carbon Abstract Co., which he organized, and was agent for the Title Insurance Co., Minnecolm.
From 1933-34 he was a member of the Utah State Legislature. He was a member of a number of social and business clubs in Salt Lake City.
Among clubs he held membership in the Ambassador Athletic Club, American Title Assn. and Utah Title Assn. He served as president of the latter organization. He was a former member of the Exchange and Executive clubs of Salt Lake City.
Active in Church work, he had been a member of Sunday School boards in Granite and Bonneville stakes. He was secretary of the Sunday School in Yale Ward. He had taught in the Mutual Improvement Assn. in Wasatch Ward and at the time of his death was a Seventy in Yale First Ward.
Born April 2, 1897, in Logan, he was a son of Louis S. and Rebecca Ballard Cardon. He was graduated from Brigham Young College, Logan, in 1916. From 1917-20 he served in the Northwestern States Mission where he was secretary.
He married Eleanor Mae Hendricks Sept. 8, 1920 in the Logan Temple.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Louis Ballard Cardon Jr., two daughters, Mrs. Eldon (Gloria) Alsop and Mrs. A. Kent (Carol) Child, all of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren; his mother; a brother, Paul B. Cardon, Murray; six sisters, Mrs. Margaret C. Hickman, Mrs. Rebecca C. Hickman and Mrs. Edna C. Taylor, Logan; Mrs Helen Cl. Lamb, Hyde Park; Mrs. Lucile C. REading, Centerville, Mrs. Ruth C. Leonard, Farmington.
