Lorin Jones Hawkes, 76, devoted husband and loving father passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 13, 1990, following a long courageous fight with Cancer.
He was born January 18, 1913 in Logan, Utah to Herbert Henry and Sarah Amy Jones Hawkes. Married Neva Roundy Cardon in the Logan LDS Temple on March 26, 1942. His was a life dedicated to church and family. He served missions to France in 1933 and Montreal Canada French speaking mission with his wife in 1981-83. He held many ward and stake callings including, bishop, teacher, high councilman and temple worker. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was blessed with a beautiful voice and shared it throughout his life. He loved to dance, do ceremics, work with wood, enjoyed sports, out-of-doors and horseback riding. Lorin was a graduate of Utah State University, Veteran of World War II and a retired manager for Westinghouse X-Ray Intermountain area.
Survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Neva; four children, Douglas C. and Marge Hawkes; Cheryl Hawkes and David Skelton, Kathleen Hawkes and Ron Black; Reed C and Candy Hawkes; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Frank J. Hawkes, St. George; Blayne J. Hawkes, Las Vegas; sisters, Eva H. Steiner, Salt Lake City; Ethel H. Poulter, Brigham City.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 1990 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bountiful 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 115 East Wicker Lane (2000 South Orchard Drive). Friends may call at the Church for a viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
Interment: Bountiful Memorial Park.
