Loree

Loree Cardon Morton, 81, joined her deceased loved ones on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 after courageously fighting Alzheimer’s. She was born June 26, 1934 in Fruitland, New Mexico, as the oldest child of Joseph Phillip Cardon and Anna Marie Rothlisberger.

Her younger siblings Phillip, Ellen, Anita, Neil, Lavor, Boyd and Ruland kept her busy growing up in Allison and Durango, Colorado.

Loree graduated from Durango High School in 1954 and from Western Slope Beauty School in 1955 in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Dale L. Morton was serving in Grand Junction as a missionary in the LDS Western States Mission during her schooling, and it was at church where they first met. After their long-distance romance, Loree accepted Dale’s proposal of marriage, and they were wed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 9, 1955.

Loree was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various capacities.

She retired from Community Nursing Services in October 2002 and continued her caring for people as a Senior Companion until November 2012. 

Loree was preceded in death by her sweetheart Dale in October 1999, her youngest son, William Dana Morton (Teresa) of Roy, Utah in October 2013, and three grandsons, Ryan Morton in July 2005, Paul Morton in July 2006 and Jeromy Morton in July 2008.

Survivors include three sons, Loren B. Morton (Rachael) of West Jordan, Utah; Allen J. Morton (JoLynn) of Sandy, Utah; Jonathan Q. Morton of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and two daughters, Malinda McCue (Dennis) of Boise, Idaho, and Daneen Coulson (Mark) of Pleasant Grove, Utah. Nine grandchildren: Melissa (Stephen) Ritz of Hillsboro, Oregon; Erin Canova (Devin) of Boise, Idaho; Anthony Morton, Alex Morton and Tianna Morton of Roy, Utah; Adriana Coulson, Brynn Coulson, Coen Coulson and Davin Coulson of Pleasant Grove, Utah; and two great-grandchildren, Anastasia Ritz and Ryan Amir Ritz of Hillsboro, Oregon. 5 brothers: Joseph Phillip Cardon Jr. of Moab, UT, Neil R. Cardon of Spanish Fork, UT, Boyd Louis Cardon of Rexburg, ID, R. Lavor Cardon of Mapleton, UT, Ruland Kent Cardon of Idaho Falls, ID. and a sister, Anita Cardon Simmons of Hillsboro, OR.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Second Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South. Family and friends attended a viewing from 9 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
