CARDON
LESTER LAVON CARDON, passed away August 24, 1995, in Flagstaff, AZ. He was born in El Paso on Jan. 22, 1917, and was an El Paso businessman and Petroleum marketer for Chevron U.S.A. and Mobile Oil Co and had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of the Texas Service Station Assn and had been active in the Boy Scouts of America.
He loved music and sang with the SPEBSQSA for ten years and was a member of the El Paso Border Chorders when they won the 1964 International Championship at their international conference.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served in many church organizations, Scout Master, Young Mens Mutual Improvement Ass’n, Sunday School teacher, Dance Instructor, ‘Sports Director (He loved to play softball) and had served as Bishop of the 2nd ward and the Parkinson’s Association of El Paso.
Survivors: Sons, LaVon R. Cardon of El Paso, Gerald J. Cardon of Fargo, ND, Daughters, Peggy A. Rhoton and Donna J. Brown of Flagstaff, AZ. Sister, Margaret Reaves of El Paso, 20 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elois Romney Cardon in Jan of 1992.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, 4th Ward chapel (1212 Sumac), Bishop Charles E. Brown, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen East Cemetery.

Lester L. Cardon
Lester Lavon Cardon, an El Paso businessman and petroleum marketer, died Aug. 24 at Flagstaff Medical Center. He was 78.
Services will be held in El Paso.
Mr. Cardon was born Jan. 22, 1917, in El Paso, Texas. He was a marketer for Chevron U.S.A. and Mobil Oil. He also worked for the Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. He was a member of the Texas Service Station Association.
Mr. Cardon was active in Boy Scouts of America and a member of the El Paso Border Chorders when they won the 1964 International Championship for barber shop quartets. He was also active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Two years ago, he moved to Flagstaff and became a member of the Flagstaff Third LDS Ward.
Survivors include sons, La Von Cardon, of El Paso, and Gerald J. Cardon of Fargo, N.D.; daughters Peggy Rhoton and Donna Brown of Flagstaff; a sister, Margaret Reaves of El Paso; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elois Romney Cardon, in January.
Local arrangements were handled by Flagstaff Mortuary.
