POCATELLO – Leon “Bud” Smith, age 71, passed away at his home on September 12, 2012.
He was born February 5, 1941, in Pocatello, Idaho, to JoeSmith and Catherine Brandt. He was the wodower of the late Elsie Smith.
Bud married his high school sweetheart, Elsie (Wheatley) Smith in 1958, and they were blessed with two children, Laurie (Smith) Strand and Rodney Smith.
Bud was a plumber who owned his own plumbing business for five years before he went to work for the Plumber’s Union. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, nephews, grandchildren, and friends. He spent most of his time in the past years at his beautiful cabin in Island Park, Idaho, that he and his late wife, Elsie, built. Bud was the type of person who would lend a hand or a dollar to anyone that needed help, and asked nothing in return.
Bud is survived by his sister, Joanna Doan, and her sons, David Kim Steely, and the late Ron and Greg Steely; his sister, Judy Yearsley, and her children, Camille Oney, and Harry, Noel and Scott Yearsley; his daughter Laurie Strand; his granddaughter, Katie Strand; his grandson, Jacob Strand; and his great-granddaughter, Rylee Strand. He is also survived by his son, Rod Smith; his twin granddaughters, Jurney and Jordey Smith, and his two step-grandchildren, Travis Ricks and Ashley Brown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 248 N Arthur, Pocatello, Idaho. The service begins at 11 a.m., followed by a social. Please join the family while we honor Bud’s memory.
