Funeral services for Joseph Phillip Cardon, 76, of Orem, who died Tuesday, Jan 3, 1978 at his home of a long illness, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Orem 67th Ward Chapel, 590 N 900 W.

Born Dec. 2, 1901, in Colonia Dublan, Mexico to Joseph Elmer and Lucinda Hurst Cardon, he married Anna Marie Rothlisberger on July 7, 1933, in Mesa, Ariz. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa LDS Temple.

Mr. Cardon moved to Orem in April, 1976. He was active in the LDS Church as a high priest. While living in Durango, Colo., he served a stake mission and was in the branch presidency.

He was active in the scouting program and served in the YM-MIA presidency, as high priest group leader, and as Sunday School superintendent.

Survivors include his wife, five sons and three daughters, Joseph P. Cardon Jr., Moab, Niel R. Cardon, Provo; Boyd Louis Cardon, Rexburg, Ida.; Royal Lavor Cardon, Bothell, Wash.; Ruland Kent Cardon, Jerome, Ida.; Mrs. Dale (Loree) Morton, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Lynn (Ellen) Young, American Fork; Mrs. Edward (Anita) Simmons, Cypress, Calif.; 35 grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters, Ernest Cardon, Eugene, Ore.; Eugene Cardon, Bloomfield, N.M.; Udell Cardon, Ignacio, Colo.; Lloyd Cardon, Mrs Ernest (Mildred) Klienworth, both of Winslow, Ariz.; Mrs. Howard (Ella) Goodman, Mesa, Ariz.; and Mrs. Vernon (Gladys) Jack. Blanding.

Friends may call at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday prior to services at the chapel. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
