Joseph Lynn Parkinson, born January 2, 1933 in Pintura, Utah, died on March 27, 2016 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Lynn was an avid sportsman and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, tennis, and golf. He was also an excellent gardener. Lynn met his bride, Joy, while attending college at Cedar City, Utah. They were married on September 14, 1955.

His first job was with Boeing in Seattle, Washington. During his years in Seattle, he completed a Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked as a design engineer for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. He worked at LANL for 28 years, where he made a significant contributions to the development and maintenance of the national nuclear stockpile and the preservation of world peace. He was considered an expert in this field and an excellent manager.

Lynn served in many leadership positions in his Church. He spent many years working in the Boy Scouting program. He really enjoyed teaching the young men to play competitive volleyball.

He was an example of honesty and the value of hard work to his children, their spouses, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Joy, of 60 years, sister, Deanna Brockmeier (Greg), five children, Bonnie (Roger) Cardon, Bruce (Michelle) Parkinson, Scott (Julie) Parkinson, Jeff Parkinson (daughter Reili), Tom (Jenny) Parkinson, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Coral Canyon 4th Ward Chapel, 1500 Ridge View Dr., Washington, UT 84780.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
