For Joseph Cardon, 87

MESA – Joseph E. Cardon, 87, a native of Arizona and retired farmer, died Saturday in his home at 157 S Mesa Drive.

Mr. Cardon was born at Woodruff near Holbrook and lived in Colonia Dublan, Mexico, from 1885 to 1912, when he moved to Durango, Colo. He farmed there until coming to Mesa 22 years ago.

He was a high priest in the Mesa 11th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are his wife, Lucinda, and five sons, Joseph P. of Durango, Udell W. of Ignacio, Colo., Eugene H. of Farmington, N.M., Ernest E of Turlock, Calif., and Lloyd W. of Winslow; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Goodman of Farmington, Mrs. Mildred Kleinworth of Winslow, Mrs. Gladys Jack of Lukachuka, and Mrs. Lois Chalk of Manteca, Calif.

Three brothers, Lester, William and Harold, all of El Paso; three sisters, Mrs Eva Farnsworth of Mesa, Mrs. Ethel Farnsworth of El Paso, and Mrs. Mabel Webb of Farmington; 43 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m tomorrow in the Mesa 11th Ward Chapel, 316 S. LeSueur, with Bishop Eugene J. Swenson officiating. Burial will be in the Mesa Cemetery.

Friends may call at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. McDonald, from 4 to 8 p.m. today and at the church from 2 p.m. till service time tomorrow.
