Josefa “Josie” Burningham was born in Neubeuern, Germany, on March 18, 1927 to her parents Rupert and Viktoria Haunreiter.  She grew up in Germany and later immigrated to the United States at the age of twenty-six.

On February 21, 1953, Josepha married her beloved husband LaMar Burningham.  Together, Josefa and LaMar raised their three children- daughters Hannah and Christina and son Edward. She was a devoted military wife and homemaker.

As a member of the LDS Church, Josefa led a life of service to her community.   After suddenly losing her eyesight at the age of 72, she continued that service to her community by knitting over 550 blankets.  Knitting was not only something she loved to do, but it also allowed her to help others in a very special way.  Over the years, Josefa’s blankets have provided warmth and comfort to many people throughout the community via Orem’s Cherry Hill 3rd Ward.

Josefa is survived by her three children, Hannah (Leland), Edward (Brenda), and Christina.  She leaves behind quite a legacy of nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild (due September 2017).  She is preceded in death by her husband LaMar.

The family would like to thank the staff of CNS Home and Hospice for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Cherry Hill 3rd Ward Chapel located at 1650 South 200 East in Orem, Utah.  Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing prior to the services beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at the Orem City Cemetery following the service.
