ST. GEORGE – Joice LaVern Cardon Ludwig, age 92, returned, peacefully, to her Heavenly Father on September 27th, 2008 with her family next to her side. She came into this world on July 12th, 1916 in Vernon, Utah to Ernest William Cardon and Annie Marshall. She married the love of her life, George Robert Ludwig, October 5th, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joice was raised in Salt Lake City with her 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She loved each of her siblings with all of her heart; and they loved her. Joice and her older brother would often recall childhood memories when they had disagreements with each other; all the while teasing and laughing. She met and fell in love with G. R. Ludwig and from that love came three children; Janet Rae, Lana Jean, and Robert Cardon Ludwig. In the early years of her marriage, she moved to San Francisco, California with her family and remained there for many years. After losing her husband, she often told all of her grandchildren, who never got the chance to meet him, what a wonderful man he was. She returned to Southern Utah in 1989, where she said she felt at home. She loved the game of golf and was an avid watcher of all the tournaments. She enjoyed spending her time working on puzzle books and board games with family and friends. No matter who she met, everyone loved her.

Joice spent most of her years caring, loving and giving to all of her posterity; whether it was by her life experiences or her quiet advice, she shared her knowledge and spirit with her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother to her family whom she loved dearly. She was a wonderful, kind hearted person who is going to be missed greatly. We are truly blessed to have had her in our lives. Her sweet spirit will continue to live on in each one of us.

Her spirit will continue to flourish by the people whom she is survived by; her younger sister, Audrey of Denver, CO; her caring daughter, Janet of St. George, UT and her son, Robert of Cameron Park CA; her grandchildren, Steve of OR, Mike of CA, Patrick of OR, Cynthia of Santa Clara, UT, Stephanie of CA, Michael of CA, and Joseph of UT; her great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Jordan and Kyle of Santa Clara, UT, Marco and Marissa of CA, Alea of OR, Cassandra of CA, and Cardon, Teagan, Rennen of Pleasant Grove, UT; her great-great grandchildren, Madison, Linkoln, and Carter of Santa Clara, UT; her loving sisters-in-law, Gayla Cardon of St. George, UT Annette Cardon of FL and Georgia Cardon of NC. She is preceded in death by her husband G. R; her daughter Lana Jean, along with her seven brothers and sisters.

Grave side services were held Thursday, October 2, 2008 at the St. George City Cemetery; where she was laid to rest next to her husband. She is loved and will deeply be missed.

A special thanks to Spilsbury Mortuary for the services they provided. The family would, also, like to express their sincere gratitude to Southern Utah Hospice for the loving care and kindness they provided for “Grandma.”

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, St. George, UT (435) 673-2454. Friends and family are invited to view funeral listings and offer their condolences at www.spilsburymortuary.com.
