Jeannette Blake Hubbard, 77, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at her home in Midway, UT surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 5, 1940 in Solomonville, AZ to Ray Fred Blake and Clara Cardon Blake. She was the oldest of five children. She married Dale Hubbard on June 6, 1963.
Jeannette grew up in Safford and Holbrook, AZ, where she loved spending time with her dad at the family run store as well as helping her mom take care of her younger siblings. She attended local public schools and graduated from Holbrook High in 1958. She loved telling stories of her teen years working at the local Dairy Queen, sneaking into the cemetery, and ditching school with her brother to go play at Slide Rock. Following her graduation, Jeannette went to college for two years at Arizona State University. While attending ASU, she worked for General Electric and the family owned restaurant in Phoenix. During this time she was set up on a blind date with a handsome fellow who she ended up falling in love with. She and Dale courted, married and began their life together.
Jeannette was married to her sweetheart, Dale Hubbard, for 54 years. Side by side they raised a family, ran a ranch in Canada, motels in Albuquerque and eventually settled in the Phoenix area where they invested in and managed real estate. Together they raised four children, fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jeannette’s pride, joy and greatest calling in life was to love and care for her family, extended family, countless friends, neighbors and even complete strangers. She served selflessly and quietly, never wanting her kindnesses to be recognized or praised. She was a faithful and loving member of the LDS church where she served in different capacities until her very last days. She had a particular love for working with the primary children and attending the temple regularly. She leaves a legacy of love, service, hard work, humility, and faith.
Jeannette is survived by her husband, Dale; children: Debbie (Wayne) Bulkley, Midway, UT; Devon (Kendra) Hubbard, Phoenix, AZ; Dawn (Brandon) Seare, Midway, UT; Dusty (Tim) Colyar, Gilbert, AZ; 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Also, her brother, Ray (Susan) Blake, Bountiful, UT and sister, Carroll Brockman, Layton, UT. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Fred; mother, Clara; brother, Jesse; and sister Marilyn Blake.
Jeannette’s life will be celebrated Friday February 9, 2018. There will be a viewing from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 1102 S.
