Jay Darrell Chapple our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on July 1, 2018 at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Cedar Hills, Utah.

Jay was born March 22, 1938, in Provo, Utah to Frank J. Chapple and Florence Virginia Clayson. He attended elementary school and Dixon Jr. High school in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1956 where he was active in wrestling, track, tennis, and football; lettering in all four sports. He later attended Brigham Young University.

On February 6, 1959, Jay married his high school sweetheart, Ruby Ann Harding, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They enjoyed 59 years together. They had four daughters and one son. Jay was very proud of his family. They were his greatest accomplishment and brought him so much joy.

He sold insurance for many years and later sold industrial chemicals.

Jay was an avid BYU sports fan. He and Ruby loved to travel, garden, and spend time with their family. Jay was a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various capacities.

He enjoyed serving as an ordinance worker with his wife in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. Jay had a beautiful testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jay is survived by his wife Ruby and his five children: Kaylynn (Gordon) Marble, Brenda (Mark) Silvester, Lori (Rodney) Southam, Vicki (Kenyon) Carter, and Curtis Chapple. Their posterity includes eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by his parents and younger brother Larry Cardon Chapple.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, July 7, 2018 in the Manila Ninth Ward Chapel at 1385 W. Box Elder Drive in Cedar Hills, Utah. Family and friends may attend a viewing from 6-8 pm on Friday evening at the church and from 9:30-10:45 am on Saturday, just prior to the services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
